A boy carefully seals up a bird in his heart out of fear of losing it. But one day, the bird flies off – curious to see the big wide world. The boy also leaves his home for the first time and sets out on an adventurous journey to recover his friend. A poetic puppet theatre piece about the barricades that we construct around ourselves in an attempt to make ourselves feel “safe”.
The Company Unterwasser was founded in 2014 and explores the possibilities and aesthetics of puppet theatre ever since – always with a special focus on strong visual elements and without spoken text.
